Back To Work

On the road again:

Well, it’s been over a year and a half since my last post. Wow! You could say I have been taking some time off …..for various reasons. I have been asking all sorts of questions as of late. Mainly, why do we photograph? I’m still wondering on what the actual answer is. Perhaps we can open that discussion for another time.

For now, I sit at a table tip tapping away on my keyboard in my room at Marmot Mountain Park Lodge in Jasper National Park. Ahhh….yesssss. I have finally made it back to the mountains to spend some time behind the lens in hopes to rekindle the fire for making images and enjoying what the mountains have to offer. For those that know me well, you heard correctly. I am in a room rather than bundled up at a picnic table or curled up in a sleeping bag in my tent. No, I am not wussing out here. My first week of a two week plan to be in the mountains was spent visiting Chiropractors and Massage therapists . I managed to put my back out 1 day prior to my departure date. Nothing like being gibbled crawling on my hands and knees just to get around the house. So a week later, I managed to suffer the drive and arrived in Jasper with just a little stiffness and soreness and while I will be unable to hike for long periods, or get to some difficult areas, I do get to spend some time in the mountains in peace and solitude.

Back home:

As it turned out, I could only muster about 4 hours a day of wandering and exploring some familiar areas before my back told me what it really thought. Rest. And so I did.   It has been exactly 2 weeks since my injury and I am starting to feel “normal “again.

The technical side of my photography came back rather quickly. The artistic side however, remains a challenge. There are some embers beginning to relight the passion for art. So if we are unwilling to share our art, then what’s the point? The three short, cloudy, chilly, snow filled days I spent in Jasper with my “broken” back resulted in the images appearing today. I hope you enjoy them.

Until next time,

Fab
